One New Thing - Four O'Clock Faculty

I just finished reading 4 OClock Faculty, and one idea (of many) that resonated with me was to try one new thing each week,  - whether it was just asking questions, or putting an idea into action. When you try one new thing it may spark something amazing that will leave you wondering why you didn't do it sooner.

I am passionate about time in class being used wisely and so my one new idea is to share ideas with the staff on how to use technology (since that is my focus on campus) to fill that class time from bell to bell.   Some teachers are amazing at using every second, and others need help with ideas from time to time.   I want to see how different teachers fill their class periods, from the beginning to the end and share those ideas with the rest of the campus.  I also want to take the tech tools I know about and show how they could be used as a bell ringer, a way to teach a lesson or as an exit ticket.   Another area I want to explore in this vein is sponge activities - what to do with the kids who finish early.  I am going to revamp my weekly newsletter to focus on these strategies instead of just random tech tips.  The tech tips will still be there, just packaged differently.

I already have so many ideas about what to include based on what I learned at TCEA this past month, and from the books I have been reading - Kids Deserve It, Teach Like a Pirate, Wild Card, and Four O'Clock Faculty.   Looking forward to sharing what develops!
